“Heat Recovery” - surplus heat for local community
Our factory in Odense, Denmark provides surplus heat from the production plant to the local community for conversion into hot water for residents´ heating systems.
The energy comes from the plant’s coatings workshop, where it is captured and then used to heat water to a temperature of ca. 75 °C. The hot water is distributed via a 1.800km long network of pipes that links the factory with local households. Today, this provides heating equalling the consumption of 1000 households.
Through this scheme, we convert the surplus energy of their our can production to a resource and uses it efficiently for the benefit of the Danish population instead of it being wasted. In this way we help to lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions. We have been contributing to this system since fall 2013.
The initiative perfectly complies with our goal of contributing to our common responsibility for the global climate.
